Welcome to the NATFOREX Website
NATFOREX is an acronym for “Establishing a National Resource of Field Trials and a Database for Research and Demonstration". Here you will find information on Ireland's extensive network of forest based field trials and the vast quantity of raw data gathered in these. The project operated from November 2007 through to November 2013. The project was funded by Coford, the National Council for Forest Research and Development and operated by University College Dublin.
The work of the project comprised an inventory and evaluation of field trials in the research network as well as a search for all raw data available from the experiments covering the period from the early 1960s to the present day. The project identified those surviving experiments worthy of long-term retention and, therefore, subject a programme of maintenance and assessment under project funding. Raw data from retained trials as well as from significant closed experiments were standardised, validated and stored.
